The introduction of 4A9 engine’s advancement
4A9 appearance

  1.Cylinder block
  Instead of cast iron cylinder block, aluminum alloy cast part is 11kg much lighter than Mitsubishi original model.
  Components design integrated (such as AC bracket, thermostat housing and water pump vortex chamber) and canceled the small cooling circuit, which makes the structure more compact.
  Cylinder block water jacket is changed which improves the thermal efficiency.
  Expanding the connected flange with gearbox and improving connected stiffness of engine power and engine reliability.

Weight : 19.8 kg

  2. Multifunctional aluminum chain housing
  Aluminum cast part that improves part’s strength.
  Oil pump, oil circuit, engine bracket and water circuit of water pump are integrated. Decreased engine’s weight and part’s quantity.

  3. Intake manifold
  Instead of aluminum intake manifold, resin material reduces 50% weight.
  Vortex long passage shortens the shape and size.
  Vortex long passage improves the torque at low medium speed, and increases power at high speed by improved internal roughness.

  4. Rocker cover
  Using resin to instead original aluminum material, reduces 54% weight.
  Using the resin damping effect to reduce noise radiation on the upper part of engine.

  5. Timing chain driven by cam
  Instead of original belt, driven by metal chain reduces weight and improves safety and reliability.
  Because the driven belt in the belt system should be changed regularly, metal chain needs no maintenance, which can reduce the maintenance fee for customers.

  6. Variable valve timing can meet the need of power while also ensure the fuel efficiency. MIVEC technology can output greater torque at the low speed, while can provide greater power output smoothly at high speed. Thereby, it not only improves fuel efficiency and kinetic performance, but also realizes the minimum emission of harmful substance.

  7. Connecting rod
  Using high stress material and fracturing process without nuts that reduces friction and improves responsiveness.
